Techniques, Victorian Ornaments, Labels to Organize and a free Ezine

Watch soon for a review on an item from CSN Stores.  I'm still enjoying the desk task chair from CSN I reviewed previously.  As many of you know, CSN has many wonderful and useful items on their retail sites.  Is there anything you need for the holidays for your home?  How about barstools?  Well, needless to say they have it all to get your home ready and pretty for the holidays.

I so wish I had a group that could get together near me to create such as Kelly Rae has. Well, I would even organize one if personal things weren't in the way right now.  If you are interested in something like this yourself, Kelly Rae wrote a very helpful post, here:

Here are some other neat stuff I found elsewhere in blogland:  We're so lucky to have these generous folks sharing freely their amazing talents.

Julie from Belzerdesigns.typead.com has various techniques which I found terrific and shows you on this video
Victorian Ornaments made with broken or recycled glass ornaments.  I thought this video was awesome.

And speaking of Christmas theme creations, just wait until you see this awesome and FREE ezine.  Just awesome!!

Altered Vintage Glass Bottles - Shells

Current completed work.  I love altering these tiny bottles.
Upcycled vintage bottles from a yard sale, antiques shop and/or thrift shop.

Shells from the beach, lace, vintage images, glitter

Broken jewelry pieces (a pin), vintage book pages, So Sweet!!

Do you have a favorite art book you use for inspiration?  I'm always in search of mixed media, collage, altered art books that might be new to me.

Do you have 1 or more that you love, used, or found very inspirational and want to recommend on one of your blog posts?  I'm planning a link party soon.  Let me know if you're interested.

Until next time, have a wonderful day!

Pretty Window and Giveaway Extended

So I finally put my wedding veil collection and organ music rolls to use.  I decorated my craft room window with them.  I love looking at the beauty of the tulle fabric, don't you?  I am in love with tulle!

This huge puff is a wedding crinoline I got from Freecycle (you know how much I love Freecyling).  See where I put it.  On my TV in my craft room.  Its been squashed in my closet for weeks and I finally liberate it.

Wanted to give all my followers a chance to win so, I'm extending the Allmodern.com giveaway 1 more week.  I will choose a name on April 18.
Good luck, everyone!

Christmas Tags & Charms

Hi everyone -- Here are some other tags I've made for our Christmas tree. I'm having fun doing these although for a while I wasn't motivated to make anything. I love using the mixed media. Here are the first ones I posted.

For this second one, I used a card and items I got from a sweet blog friend. Debra from Muses & Mysteries sent me the stamped card, dragonfly and plastic beads among other wonderful things.

The charms below, I purchased from Michael's to use on my creations. I thought they were a great deal and lots of selection. Love the copper ones and the crown the best.

Thanks for stopping by,

Closer & Closer To Us

Christmas is getting closer, folks! As always things really move quick & hastily around this time of year. For the past couple of years, we made a decision to slow down, simplify. And so this year, mostly out of necessity and because its just smart for us, we're taking it easy. No scheduling overload, no gifts overload, no expensive gifts or unnecessary expenses. After all, what is the reason for the season, right?

Here are some tags/ornament cards I've made in the last few days to decorate one of our Christmas tree which will be our first Victorian-inspired tree. It'll have pink lights, pink glass balls, pink fiber and these. I'll post others as I finish.

The handle on this one was from a gift bag that broke. It made its way to my work table and it clicked! I could use that as a hanger. It truly happened that way.

I used the large scallop punch I just recently got for this one and a broken ponytail holder (the pearls). The background is package tissue from the $ store, which I love, by the way.

I got inspiration from Alice W. at Romantic Thoughts for this one. I loved heir and I kinda like the way mine turned out. These will all go on one of our Christmas trees.

Blessings to you all,

Catching Up with Christmas & Stuff

My hubby hard work at decorating our outside. He makes the garlands himself by recycling old christmas trees and other fake greens and fake fruit. Every year we get so many compliments.

"Give me your blessings, grandma". Isn't that a sweet quote? When I saw this little dress I had to have it.

I bought this beautiful wedding gown at an open air market this past summer. Its so heavy and it feels so rich. If any of you have any expertise on such things, I'd love to know from around what year this gown is from. I also I'm looking for ways I could display in my house as part of my decor. I don't want it to sit in a closet. So, share your ideas. I'd love to hear them all. Thanks.

Been busy creating some Christmas tags for a Christmas tree and will share those in the next few days.

Throwing blessings your way,
