New Collages

Well, I'm back after a much needed rest from blogging and after a few challenging months including family issues and major computer problems. 

Here are some things I've been working on.

This is a collage I made with paper, dried hydrangea, rhinestones, silk flower and an air dry clay piece at top. The substrate is a recycled mass produced poster on a mat board of some sort that one of my neighbors didn't want anymore in her house. This is my favorite photo of Marilyn Monroe.  I was going to use it for the bottle below that my daughter wanted, but she selected another Marilyn photo. 

I'm not quite finished with this bottle. Still waiting on a quote from my daughter that she wants to include of Marilyn's.

Altered Bottles and Notebooks

Been busy creating more altered bottles and other things. I've done a couple of craft shows so I have some experience in that now and will try some others in the future.

  

 Here's a Christmas bottle made with a tag I had from last year which I cut to decorate this bottle. The other has an air dry clay piece I stamped and painted.

  

This one has metal buttons and a piece of an old doily and the composition book below was covered in paper, ribbon and silk flower.

 Are you more than ever more inspired to create since Pinterest came on the scene? I sure am. I wish I had more time to devote to my crafts. I'm still trying to learn to draw, sew more, and want to start making soldered jewelry too and my darn full time job is in the way, arghhh!

Collaged Mother Goose and Wax video

New collages and mixed media I worked on recently using images from an old Mother Goose child's book that was falling apart:

Wallpaper Shops Rock!

I finally had the nerve to go to my local wallpaper/hardware store in town and ask if they gave away their discontinued wallpaper books and indeed they do. Woohoo! Got 2 books.

Aren't these papers beautiful? The papers are great quality and beautiful themes to choose from.


Two weeks later, I got 2 others from someone on freecycle.org mailing list. I was hooked! Now I have 4 books!! Jeez, what am I going to do with all that paper?!

Brings me to the next thing. Have you found that gathering, collecting, shopping for your supplies is almost as much fun to the actual working on creations? Its almost an addiction and as I said before, paralyzing to me, because when I should get down to creating, I'm instead scoping out supplies. Same for the blog candy out there.

Anyhow, I'm hoping this is the weekend, when I'll get some stuff done. Wish me luck.
Also, if anyone has tips for selling at crafts fairs and such, please share. I've never done it and have been considering for many months with trepidation.

Addicted to Eye Candy

Its almost paralyzing! I'm not creating as much as I am viewing other artist's work on the web. Thanks God for the internet, right? So much there to see, learn, be inspired by. Well, here's something I made a bit ago. Its a board book that I altered with all about my favorites in decorating my house, such as colors, styles, decorating ideas, fabrics, etc. I only have the front cover right now. Will post the rest soon.

Since Halloween is right around the corner, here's a couple of cool projects I saw published on Country Home Magazine's Oct. issue. Aren't they neat! Love that repurposing of the license plates.
